That way, the mechanic doesn't get tiresome or produce a dynamic where it takes so long to get there that you have to really want it, which might strangle your economy too much. (or maybe not... it would probably be a case-by-case issue)<BR/><BR/>Obviously, you'd probably need to have some areas pretty much open from the start. Perhaps your first quest in the game is simply to get to the Main Common Area from which you launch into the rest of the game as you see fit.<BR/><BR/>I can almost see interesting guild-based "hazing" events created this way (if you extend the mechanics to fit it). That is, a guild of players creates a challenge for a new initiate.
